A hydrous basic
phosphate of copper and aluminium; may contain some iron, non-cleaving. Ranges
in color from sky-blue, bluish green, apple green, waxy, dull, streaky white,
to pale green. The name was originally French, turquoise, "Turkish",
referring to the locality of origin, in what is now Iran.
